How to Uninstall Symantec Antivirus Client without password

Been playing around with my anti-virus options and accidentally double-clicked on the Symantec anti-virus’s archive installer I got some time back. Can’t stop the installation process and if you’ve installed SAV before, you’d realise that for some reason it prompts you for a password to uninstall. Here’s the solution to yet another technical annoyance:

1) Go to Start -> Run and type regedit

2) Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\
CurrentVersion\Administrator Only\Security\

3) Double click on the value name “UseVPUninstallPassword” and change the value from 1 to 0

After you’ve changed that registry entry, you won’t be prompted for the password during uninstallation.
