Photosketch – Photoshop on Steroids

According to authors, their software can take any rough sketch, with the shape of each element labeled with its name, find images corresponding to each drawn element, judge which are a better match to the shapes, and then seamlessly merge it all into one single image.

This is cool for a few reasons:

    1. No more looking around for images to montage
    2. NUS collaborated in the research
    3. I can make Iorek Byrnison fight Godzilla in a volcano crater when a meteor is threatening to strike both of them down.

The actual website is down and like a lot of the commentors in that article, I’d need to try my hands on to believe it.

Closing the Gap between Game and Anime

Some games, Dragonball Budokai series come to mind, attempted cell-shading technique to their art style but something always looks odd somehow. This trailer of the latest Naruto game caught my eye and it pretty much looks like what the anime looks like. If these are indeed in-game shots, I must say it looks pretty sweet. I like the evening scene of Sasuke fighting Kakashi, everything dyed yellow by the setting sun. Only problem is this will probably have the same gameplay and storyline as the past X number of Naruto fighters. [via Kotaku]
